

Temple Story
The Bagalamukhi Temple, Nalkheda is located on the banks of the Lakhundar River, a tributary of the Narmada River, in Nalkheda, a town in the Agar Malwa district of Madhya Pradesh, India. It is dedicated to the goddess Bagalamukhi, a devi of the Hindu religion and one of the ten Mahavidyas. She is associated with the colour yellow.[1]
History
Ten Mahavidyas are mentioned in ancient Tantra texts. Maa Bagalamukhi has got the eighth place among ten Mahavidyas. The importance of Maa Bhagwati Bagalamukhi is the most special among all the goddesses. They have only three important ancient temples in the world, which are called Siddhapeeth. One of them is in Nalkheda.
The temple is popular at the time of the Navaratri festival. It is one of three in India noted historically as having shrines to Bagalamukhi, the others being in Datia and Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. It was restored in 1815.
The brother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi chanted at the temple during the Lok Sabha elections. Other visitors over the years have included Bharatiya Janta Party MP Jagdambika Pal and MP Digvijaya Singh, P. C. Sharma visited the temple in March 2020.[4]
In India, only three major historical temples of Maa Baglamukhi are considered, which are in Datia (Madhya Pradesh), Kangra (Himachal) and Nalkheda district Shajapur (Madhya Pradesh) respectively. All three have their own different importance.
In this temple, Bilvapatra, Champa, White Ankara, Amla, Neem and Peepal trees are situated together. A beautiful and lush green garden can be seen around it. There is a crowd of devotees here during Navratri. Due to the temple being in the cremation area, there is a crowd of devotees throughout the year.
